Writer’s Block

Filed under: General • Comments: 1

I’ve taken to working on a fan fiction to get myself through some writers block.  Fan fictions are easier because I don’t have to worry about creating characters or places or plot.  I can just run with what was already there.  It keeps me writing so I don’t get rusty.

Vacation

Filed under: General • Comments: 1

So, I’ve been on vacation this whole week and didn’t do a stitch of writing.

I managed to get the living room painted and I got the new sofa I wanted.  So it wasn’t a total waste of a week.  There was sort of productive things in there.  Just nothing along the lines of getting a novel published…

Pirate Novel on Hold

Filed under: Pirate Lord • Comments: 1

So, the Pirate novel is at 48% complete. I think though that I’m going to put it on hold.  I have no desire to work on it.  None, what so ever.  I’ve tried pushing myself to work in it but it doesn’t interest me.  One thing that worries me is that if I’m bored writing, wont people be bored reading it?  I hope not.

On to other things.  Maybe a fan fiction for fun or editng.

Update

Filed under: Drafting, Pirate Lord • Comments: None

My pirate novel is at 42% complete.  It’s been that way for weeks.  My motivation is just gone.  I have more creative energy in the morning but I have to work during that time.  I get home and I am just drained.  I know I need to get this done.  I know I need to get something in print.  If I get something in print I might be able to quit my job.  I might be able to write full time.  Who knows.  Motivation, where are you?  My story is getting lonely with out you…

Pirate Lord Novel Rough Draft: 22%

Filed under: Drafting, Pirate Lord • Comments: None

I buckled down and started to write my Pirate Lord novel.  I did about 1.2 words yesterday and I want to try to repeat that again today.  The novel wont be called the Pirate Lord as there is already a novel entitled that.  I was going to call the novel Lord of the High Seas but I think that is too wordy.Â

Kissing Frogs

Filed under: Drafting, Kissing Frogs • Comments: None

I was watching TV the other day and a bubble gum commercial came on that had the classic fairy tale element of a prince turned into a frog and it got me to thinking that I should write a story sometime about such an event.  I’ll have to brain storm on it to make it new and different but I think an old classic renewed could be quite fun.  I have a lot of other ideas to develop and write first though.

The Pirate Lord story I’ve been working on is still at 19% completion.  My goal of getting it done for January didn’t quite happen.  Hopefully it will be done by the end of February though.  I was going to try to get the percentage up the last couple days of January but a severe case of the flu put a damper on that.  Even two days after when the fever broke I’m still fatigued.

Hopefully February will be a better writing month for me then January was.

Writing, the Non-WriMo Way

Filed under: Drafting, Pirate Lord • Comments: None

So, my next rough draft is only 19% complete.  I’m not writing everyday, which is a problem but I don’t want my Tai Chi or crochet projects to suffer.  I’m finding that it’s hard for me to remember what’s going on in my  novels when I don’t dedicate an hour to them each day.  I’ve already made an error in the draft by saying someone had been fired and then later writing that they were still employed.  I might have to do all my drafting in a mad dash for a full month.  Too bad I am still crocheting Christmas gifts from 2007 or I’d have this draft most of the way done.  Afghans don’t make themselves though.

Free Fantasy Novel for Download

Filed under: General • Comments: None

A writer friend of mine, Jonathan Fesmire, has written a spectacular fantasy novel that he is allowing folks to download in PDF format here called “Children of Rhatlan.”  Jonathan has been a real inspiration to me as a writer and I always appreciate his candor about the publishing industry and his writing.  He’s is probably one of the reasons that my writing is progressing at the rate that it is.  So, take advantage of this limited time offer to download “Children of Rhatlan” now, before it’s not available anymore.

New Year, New Novel

Filed under: NaNoWriMo, Drafting, Pirate Lord • Comments: None

The new novel is tentatively titled “Lord of the High Seas”.  It was going to be “Lord of the Seven Seas” but I’m not certain that I want the story to take place on earth but in a world I create.  I have about 4k words written so far and I want to be done by Jan. 31st.  This is kind of like NaNoWriMo but no in November and a little bit more time to reach my goal of 50k words.

It is my goal to write three rough drafts this year and edit at least one of them to the point of publication.  If I keep myself on a strict writing schedule, I should be able to meet the goal with out sacrificing too much of my other hobbies such as crocheting and playing The Sims 2.

As always, I’ll keep you posted as to my progress.

New Novel Time!

Filed under: Christabelle, Drafting • Comments: None

I’ve decided to write another rough draft.  It’s a pirate romance that was inspired by a dream I had a couple years ago and now it’s time to write it.  I’ve got some names picked out for the characters, but I don’t have a title.  I don’t know why but it seems like a hurdle I need to get past in order to start.  I can’t use the main characters name like I did with Christabelle.  Hmm, much to ponder.
